Abstract
This qualitative research was conducted to find out the kinds of English phonological errors produced by Kindergarten 2 Students of Stamford International Community School Semarang. The object of this study was 10 students of Kindergarten 2. They were chosen as the subject of the research because the researcher is interested in the study of English for young learners. Moreover, the researcher is the teacher of K2 class who involves in every teaching and learning activity. In Stamford ICS Semarang English is used everyday among the teachers and students, yet they do not realize about what they said in English is right or wrong on its pronunciation To conduct this research there are several steps which had to be done. First, the data was taken through words and sentences from the stories told by the subject of the research, then it is recorded. Second the data analyzed with the guidance of the phonemic transcription in Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary 3 to show the current mistakes. From the research, the researcher states that common characteristics of pronunciation errors of the subjects resulting from the influence of the learners’ mother tongue, such as the absence of certain English sound in Bahasa Indonesia, the consonants cluster confusion, and the omission of grammatical ending and suffixes. The finding of this research is to help to provide a clear understanding of the common characteristics of pronunciation errors made by the subjects.
