    Abstract

Optimization model is one model that is identical premises systems analysis operations research. Transport models related to the determination of the lowest cost plan for sending the goods from a number of sources (warehouses) to a destination (wholesaler). The working principle of Least Cost method is giving priority allocation that has the smallest unit costs (cost per unit of the smallest). MODI method (Modified Distribution) is a method of resolving cases of the method developed transportation Stepping Stone. The purpose of this study, applying the cost of transporting sugar distribution in UD.Sari Bumi Raya using Least Cost Method and MODI so that the company can determine the cost of an optimal distribution of brown sugar. The results showed that the distribution costs incurred by the company prior to the optimization of Rp. 700.000, and distribution costs incurred after calculated using Least Cost method and MODI is Rp. 574 300,. Thus the difference in distribution cost of Rp. 125.700.
