Abstract
The study entitled Translation Quality Assessment of Translated Novel The Martian by Andy Weir. The objective of this study is to describe the translation quality assessment of the technical term on translated novel The Martian by Andy Weir in term of accuracy, acceptability and readability. The data of this research were collected by selecting 100 data from The Martian novel by Andy Weir and its translation as primary data and questionnaire to the three raters and three respondents as secondary data. In The Martian and its translation, there are only 100 sentences containing technical terms. Based on the research finding, there are 51 (51%) data are accurate, 38 (38%) are less accurate, and 11 (11%) are inaccurate. The translation of The Martian novel by Andy Weir are acceptable. There are 64 (64%) data are acceptable, 30 (30%) are less acceptable, and 6 (6%) are unacceptable. Mostly, the translation of The Martian novel by Andy Weir are readable. The 56 (56%) data are readable, 42 (42%) are less readable, and 2 (2%) are unreadable. In conclusion the technical terms of the novel in term of accuracy only half accurate ,half acceptable and half readable.The translator should more concern on translate the technical terms or terminologies in the novel. The translator should not only focus on the accuracy of the translation of technical terms, but also other important aspects such as acceptability and readability of its technical terms. This research hopefully can be one of the source of information for other researchers who want to conduct further research about translation quality assessment.
